The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) represents a pivotal component of the Sustainable Finance framework within the 2019 EU Green Deal legislative package, along with the EU Taxonomy and SFDR. The CSRD was initiated by the European Commission in 2021 to succeed the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) of 2014. It entered into force on the 5th of January, 2023, necessitating Member States to transpose it into national law by June 2024 at the latest.
CSRD has been designed to both reinforce and expand upon the existing regulations to combat greenwashing through transparency, by ensuring the communication of reliable and comparable ESG data.
CSRD reporting goes beyond legal compliance, offering a business strategic opportunity. It mandates detailed data collection and non-financial reporting, compelling you to examine your entire value chain, and identify key areas for strategic and sustainability improvements.
